Sarah Russell Stables specializes in Saddle Seat riding. From the beginner rider through riders competing at the highest level, our mission is to teach the fundamentals of riding with emphasis on developing confidence, control, and balance in a friendly environment.
Our instructors have competed at the National Level in Saddle Seat and are committed to passing on their knowledge and love of horses to others. They focus on teaching lessons in a very safe and fun manner and customize every lesson to meet the student’s needs.

We require students to wear SEI approved helmets, pants and boots with a heel while riding. We have helmets available to borrow until you can purchase one.
Riding Lessons
We teach in group format to allow students to learn confidence and control in navigating their horses with others in the arena. Students thrive off of one another in a group setting allowing improvement based on competition amongst and encouragement from their peers. We offer 4-6 weeks of private lessons upon enrollment in order to give each rider the skills and confidence to advance into a group lesson. Students are required to arrive 30 minutes before their scheduled lesson time to groom and tack their horse and stay afterwards to properly cool out and put their horse away.
Academy Team Lessons
Academy lessons are reserved for members of the SRS Academy Team. These lessons will build upon and advance individual riding skills and also include elements of showmanship as these riders prepare to compete in Academy Shows. If you are interested in being a member of the SRS Academy Team, ask your instructor for details.
Show Rider Lessons
These lessons are reserved for our SRS Show Team.
These riders have graduated from the Academy Program and now compete on a national circuit.
Lunge Lessons
These are lessons that focus on core strength and balance. We use different exercises and techniques to work on body control and how to communicate with the horse effectively without the use of reins. These lessons are great for working on balance, gaining confidence and strength, and addressing specific body issues.
Cancellation Policy
We have a large covered arena and are able to conduct lessons rain or shine. Lessons may be cancelled by SRS staff in the event of severe weather conditions, storms, or heat. SRS staff reserves the right to cancel lessons when necessary due to being out of town for horse shows; Because our lesson tuition is charged monthly we will offer a make up lesson within that month. 24 hour notice is required from students in order to receive a make up lesson.
